The 6th edition of the book Law Relating to the Armed Forces in India authored by Maj Gen Nilendra Kumar of Noida, is now ready in print. The book first published in 1989 has its foreword by Field Marshal SHFJ Manekshaw, MC. The 5th edition came out in 2014.
The new edition has covered judgments of the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts and benches of Armed Forces Tribunal in 262 new cases. These have been presented in the form of 488 new rulings and 241 new topics.
The main utility of the book is its vast coverage area. To illustrate, if one is to look for the topics on which decisions of various courts are to be researched, for example, if one has to look for the type of rulings on matters like recruitment, eligibility of members to serve on court martial, grant of merit accommodation, medical categorization or right to defend at a court martial, then one may find the citation of relevant earlier cases for checking applicability in one's own matter.
