HINDUISM: A WAY OF LIFE

Hinduism that is also called ‘SANATAN DHARM’ is the oldest living religion on earth. Sanatan Dharm is basically a lifestyle that includes : Humanity, Vegetarianism, Peace, Patience, Forbearance, Self-restraint, Compassion, Honesty, Non-violence, belief in Karma and many more. All these inspire us to follow the path of goodness. According to me, these eternal duties must be practiced for the entire life by every individual, no matter what societal class they belong to.

As per Hinduism, the aim of human life is : Dharm, Arth, Kaam and Moksh.  In this way, hindus strive to achieve dharm which is a code of living that emphasizes good conduct and morality.

The major scriptures of Sanatan Dharm includes : Vedas (Rigved, Samved, Atharved and Yajurved), Shreemad Bhagwat Geeta, Shreemad Bhagwat, Ramayan, Mahabharat, Upanishad which emphasizes on purity of thought, purity of speech and humanity.

“Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” that means the whole world is one family, is one such prevalent phrase found in Hindu Scripture which promotes the sense of equality amongst all.

Cleanliness of  mind is very challenging today. Hindu scriptures have listed the impurities i.e., kaam, Krodh, Madh, Lobh, Moh etc. as the affliction of  mind which opens the door leading to degression. Adhering to conceal the fact, even after knowing the truth is another sign of an impure mind.

Hinduism promotes the humanity as a quality of being human, but being human doesn’t mean that an individual possesses it. Humanity that is above all religion, today is falling back.

As we can see in the present scenario of COVID-19, the whole world is preferring  and practicing the ways and lifestyle as prescribed in Sanatan dharm. Instead of shaking hands, they are wishing “Namastey” to each other. They are preferring the funerary custom over the custom of immersing the dead bodies in soil and are approaching towards vegetarianism.

All the above explanation reveals the greatness of Sanatan Dharma and why it should be followed.
